Ulster County Executive Mike Hein Recognizes The Continued Outpouring Of Community Support For The Ulster County Patriots Project

The Community Helps To Make The Patriots Project A Special Home For Our Veterans

Kingston, NY – County Executive Hein thanked some of the local community members yesterday for their generous donations to the Patriots Project.  He was joined by Barbara Cohen who donated a dishwasher along with DianaLou Wolff and Barbara Blas of Benefit Counseling who donated a microwave. The Patriots Project will provide transitional housing and related services for homeless Veterans in Ulster County at 67 Wurts Street in Kingston.  The property stands directly across from Thomas Cornell Park, which is the site of an existing Veterans’ Memorial.

“We are so lucky to have such caring and generous individuals and organizations in Ulster County,” said County Executive Hein.  “I want to thank Barbara and Joe Cohen as well as  DianaLou Wolff and Barbara Blas of Benefit Counseling for their very much needed donations which will truly help to make this a special home worthy of our Veterans in need.  Their actions together with all of the support and efforts made by countless local businesses and service organizations, church communities, individuals and the Ulster County Legislature have helped to make this project so extraordinary.  It is exciting to see this project moving towards completion and we are appreciative of all those who are helping to make the Patriots Project a reality.”

“My husband Joe and I are happy to be able to contribute a dishwasher to the Patriots Project and we appreciate County Executive Hein’s vision for this wonderful project,” said Barbara Cohen. 

“We are pleased to help our County’s Veterans by donating a microwave to the Patriots Home and are thankful to the County Executive for his commitment to them,” said DianaLou Wolff & Barbara Blas of Benefit Counseling.  “All of the needed items add up and we are happy to be a small part of this great project.”
