KINGSTON MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO ATTEMPTED ROBBERY IN THE FIRST DEGREE

Kingston, NY—On August 15, 2024, Elijah Lyons, age 27, of Kingston, pleaded guilty to Attempted Robbery in the First Degree, a class C violent felony, in Ulster County Court before the Honorable Bryan Rounds. Lyons pleaded guilty as a Second Violent Felony Offender; he is scheduled to be sentenced on November 14, 2024, to 12 years in state prison followed by five years of post-release supervision and restitution.

On June 18, 2024, Lyons attempted robbery of the Caribbean Taste Deli in Kingston with a butcher knife and was apprehended by Deli employees. Just the night before, Lyons robbed the Sunoco Gas Station on Foxhall Avenue, where he threatened the clerk with what appeared to be a firearm.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Sohil Sharedalal.  The defendant was represented by Mark Formichelli of Dutchess County Public Defender’s Office, acting as Conflict Defender.
