In fact, as a percentage of personal income, New York State taxes are currently 80% higher than the national average. Rising property taxes are breaking the people of New York. They are damaging our small businesses and stifling our economy. But worst of all, high taxes are forcing families from their homes. This is completely unacceptable.
Awareness is the first step to preventing domestic violence.
Kingston, NY – Ulster County Executive Mike Hein invited advocates for domestic abuse victims to the Ulster County Office Building to join him in proclaiming the month of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Ulster County. The County Executive believes that bringing awareness to the devastation caused by domestic violence is the first step in preventing it from happening.
Kingston, NY - Many Ulster County fire departments and ambulance squads will be holding an open house on Sunday, October 3, 2010 from 1-3 PM. This event not only kicks off Fire Prevention Week, but is also an opportunity for residents to visit their local fire stations and ambulance squads. Last year Ulster County instituted an ongoing Recruitment and Retention Campaign geared toward increasing the number of volunteers in the county.

With this balanced budget, he streamlined operations and further reduced the county workforce to prevent any increase to the county tax levy. The County Executive made many tough choices and cut spending in numerous departments in order to protect taxpayers from the skyrocketing cost of government.
