    The passing of Nina Postupack is sad news. I have known Nina throughout my career as a prosecutor.   She was to me a genuine example of a public servant – from the way she conducted herself and her office, including the way I observed her treat her employees and DMV clerks in the County Office building. I saw her with my own eyes treat people on a long DMV line with dignity and respect– that meant so much for me to see.

    KINGSTON, NY—Joseph Karolys, age 39, of Saugerties, was sentenced to 25 years in State Prison, plus five years of post-release supervision, to run concurrently on his convictions of Manslaughter in the First Degree and Assault in the First Degree.  He was also sentenced to additional 1 1/3 to 4 years for his conviction of Tampering with Physical Evidence; he must serve this sentence in addition to the 25 years.

    KINGSTON, NY – On October 2, 2024, Ziare Green, age 29, of Kingston, was sentenced to 8 years in State Prison and 5 years of post-release supervision in Ulster County Court by the Honorable Bryan Rounds in connection to his July 2024 conviction of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.

    Kingston, NY— Ty Kobelt, 33, of Gardiner, NY pleaded guilty in Ulster County Court on September 18, 2024 before the Honorable Bryan Rounds to the charges of Manslaughter in the Second Degree and Leaving the Scene of an Incident without Reporting, stemming from a fatal hit-and-run resulting in the death of 22-year-old SUNY New Paltz student, Raymond Rattray, in January of this year.

    Kingston, NY—On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, Stephen Miller, age 85, of Tucson, Arizona, was convicted of Manslaughter in the Second Degree with a five-year probation sentence before the Honorable Bryan E. Rounds.

    Kingston, NY—On August 29, 2024, Spencer Lane, age 38, of Saugerties, was convicted after jury trial in Ulster County Court before the Honorable James Farrell, visiting Judge from Sullivan County, for the felonies of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, and the misdemeanors of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree, and Menacing in the Second Degree. The charges in the indictment stemmed from three separate incidents in the Town of Saugerties dating back to July of 2022.
