Legal services are provided by Elder Law Attorneys through Ulster County Office for Aging for persons age 60 years and older. The attorneys are available to prepare:

· Health Care Proxies
· Living Wills
· Powers of Attorney

Contributions/Donations are gratefully accepted!
The Ulster County Office for the Aging provides each recipient of legal services the opportunity to make a voluntary contribution. These contributions are used to expand the legal services program as required by New York State Office for the Aging. These contributions enables us to reach more seniors with valuable services.
All contributions are voluntary and entirely at the discretion of the individual receiving the service. The average cost for legal services is much higher, and can range from $300 to $500 for the services provided.
There is no obligation, what-so-ever, to contribute and services may not be denied to those who choose not to contribute.
Contributions are confidential and the Ulster County Office for the Aging and its vendors are responsible for protecting the privacy of each recipient of services with regard to contributions.

Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) administer the Legal Assistance Program, which is required under Title III-B of the Older Americans Act. Also, funding from Federal III-E Caregiver funds are allocated along with county dollars to provide legal assistance. The need for legal services among the older population is growing. Consultations and referrals to other providers are available by contacting 845-340-3456.
Consumer Affairs (a division of the District Attorney's Office) exists to serve and protect consumers and legitimate business from fraudulent and unfair business practices affecting the community. While representing consumers, the bureau has always been sensitive to legitimate business. The bureau’s activities include consumer counseling, investigation, education, complaint handling, as well as the broadcast and dissemination of consumer information and strategies.
